The Front Range Oratory Group (FROG) is a Pueblo area, homeschool, competitive speech and debate club. Our purpose is to teach Christian homeschool students to speak with excellence and eloquence in a variety of styles and circumstances in order that they will be prepared to take Christ’s message of love and forgiveness into the world. We use classes, club activities and competition as tools for building their skills. We also encourage them to find opportunities to speak in their communities.

FROG competes in the National Christian Forensic and Communication Association (NCFCA) league and complies with NCFCA rules (see NCFCA.org). Our students may compete in up to 5 of the 10 NCFCA sanctioned individual speech events, though we recommend fewer events for beginners (new 12-13 year old students may only want to commit to one event). Students may also compete in either of two forms of debate: Team Policy Debate and Lincoln-Douglas debate. FROG students are expected to comply with our stated Biblical Code of Conduct and NCFCA dress code.

Club meetings are held on Wednesday afternoons with debate and I.E. events in alternating weeks. Students may participate in either or both. Parents are expected to attend club meetings with their students. Students should also be able to attend a minimum of 2-3 competitions, including at least one of the major qualifying tournaments.

Students are encouraged to participate in the FROG Achievement Awards Program. Other events in which FROG students are asked to participate include The Communicators for Christ Conference, the FROG weekend workshop in the fall, and our annual “Chautauqua” showcase performance held in the spring. FROGs students have fun together and like to plan a variety of social events throughout the year. All of these are optional.

FROG costs include a $30/year participation fee, $30/family/year NCFCA affiliation fee, $20 FROG weekend cost, and a one-time/family $25 purchase of a textbook. Additional costs may include the conference costs for the Communicators for Christ Conference, debate camp, or possibly the Masters Conference. Each competitive event has its own participation fee. Travel expenses may also be incurred, although we try to cut costs whenever possible.

We accept applications for new students each summer. If you’d like more information about FROG, or would like to receive an information/application packet, please contact us.
